Faith Zone is the name for our Children’s education programs. It is a time
for children to experience God through stories of the Bible and everyday
life which enable them to grow in their faith and knowledge of God.
The four approaches we use are as follows:
WORSHIP & WONDER
 Worship & Wonder has welcoming adults who lead your child in worship that they can
understand and enter into. Our storytellers are fully trained in this
ministry and are committed to making this experience valuable to you, as
parents who seek to guide your children in faith, and to the children
themselves. This ministry is based on the work of Jerome Berryman and Sonja
Stewart who used principles of the Montessori method of education. This
ministry is offered during the 9:45 AM worship for children in 3rd-5th
grades. And during the 11:00 AM worship for children 3 yrs—2nd grades on the
Main St. Campus. And during the 9:30 AM worship on the Harmony Pl. Campus
for children 3 yrs-5th grades.
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
On the Main St. Campus our children’s classes follow the workshop rotation
model. In this model children and teachers follow one theme and Bible
story/character for 5-6 weeks. They learn through hands-on experiences in a
different “workshop” each Sunday. One week they might be in the “theater”
watching a movie. And the next week they might be creating an art project
based upon the same story, or in the kitchen learning a Biblical truth
through a Science experiment. These workshops are offered at 9:45 AM for 5
yr. olds—2nd grades and at 11:00 AM for 3rd-5th grades.
 On the Harmony Place Campus our children learn in a broadly-graded class
following the worship service at 10:30 AM. Children learn through a variety
of activities using “Exploring Faith-God’s Word for God’s Children.”
MID-WEEK BIBLE CLUB
All Children 4 yrs old—5th grades are welcome to learn about God through a
Bible Club format on Wednesday evenings 6:30 –8:00 PM on the Harmony Pl
Campus. This Ministry uses the B.I.G. curriculum which stands for: Hearing,
Seeing, and Living your Belief In God. Children learn through stories, DVD
shorts, art projects, game activities, and scripture memorization. They also
earn BIG Bucks which can be spent on special items at the BIG store.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
The Main St. Campus hosts an intergenerational, family based, week of fun
and learning usually in June.
The Harmony Place Campus hosts a week of fun and learning for children 4
yrs-5th grades usually in August. (There’s a BIG slide involved!) |
Florence Christian Church also
offers Youth and Children Faith & Fellowship
Groups. These groups also focus on the Bible and
Faith in everyday life, but they go one step
further in providing a faith-based social
environment where your children and youth can
grow spiritually, socially, physically and
emotionally. There are also opportunities for
your family to come together to share faith and
learn and play.
